ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNS

INTRODUCTION

I have had the opportunity to apply my skills in real-life architectural design as well as in creating conceptual designs for animation purposes. One of my key accomplishments was designing a residential building for a relative, a project that allowed me to apply my design knowledge in a practical, real-world context. This experience gave me valuable insights into the complexities and challenges of residential architecture, including site planning, spatial arrangements, and the integration of aesthetic and functional elements.

Both my real-life residential building project and my conceptual designs for Excel Earthings offered unique challenges that allowed me to blend practical architectural design with creative visualisation for animation. In the real-world project, I focused on delivering a functional and aesthetically pleasing home that met my relative’s needs, while in the conceptual projects, I had more creative freedom to design buildings that supported the storytelling and visual marketing efforts of Excel Earthings.

REAL-LIFE RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PROJECT

The residential building project was particularly significant for me because it was my first real-world architectural endeavor. Designing a home for a relative, I was entrusted with the responsibility to create a space that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, while also accommodating their specific lifestyle and personal preferences.

    • Design Process: I began the project by working closely with my relative to understand their needs and vision for the home. We discussed everything from the number of rooms to the layout preferences and the architectural style they wanted. After gathering all the necessary information, I proceeded to design the house using AutoCAD, developing detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D models. This allowed me to create a comprehensive visual representation of the building that my relative could review and provide feedback on.
    • Focus on Functionality and Comfort: The design focused on achieving a comfortable living space, with careful attention to space utilization, natural lighting, ventilation, and flow between rooms. I also incorporated design elements that reflected their personal style, while ensuring that the building adhered to local building regulations and safety standards.
    • Structural and Aesthetic Considerations: I paid close attention to both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. The exterior of the house was designed to harmonize with the surrounding environment while also standing out with its unique architectural features. The interiors were planned to maximize comfort and efficiency, balancing modern design elements with practical layouts for everyday living.

This real-life project not only strengthened my technical skills but also gave me the experience of working with clients, managing expectations, and delivering a design that was practical, safe, and aligned with their vision.

    CONCEPTUAL BUILDING DESIGNS

(FOR ANIMATION PURPOSES AT EXCEL EARTHINGS)

In addition to real-life architectural projects, I also designed several conceptual buildings for animation purposes during my time at Excel Earthings. These building designs were created as part of the company's marketing and promotional materials, often used in animated videos that showcased product installations or the structural applications of the company’s products.

    • Purpose and Role of Designs: The buildings I designed for these animations served as the backdrop for demonstrating how products such as earthing rods, earth pit chambers, and other earthing solutions could be integrated into various types of structures. The goal was to create realistic yet visually appealing environments where the products could be featured in action.
    • Design Tools and Techniques: For these designs, I used AutoCAD to create detailed architectural models, which were then rendered using Lumion and Adobe Creative Suite for animations. These building designs ranged from residential homes to commercial structures, depending on the context of the video and the products being highlighted.
    • Focus on Animation Aesthetics: Since these designs were primarily for animation purposes, I focused not only on architectural accuracy but also on the visual appeal and animation-friendly aspects of the designs. I ensured that the buildings would look dynamic and realistic when animated, paying close attention to textures, lighting, and movement within the scenes. These animations were used for marketing campaigns, social media promotions, and client presentations.
